The rewards idea is nice, I don't know why I didn't think of that. I guess I just thought losing the weight would be rewarding enough. I think I'll give it a try.
I think zoos rock too, but was told recently by my friend that London Zoo is rubbish nowadays. Oh well.

I noticed that you said you were worried about loose skin, so I thought I'd just pass on some info from when I was trying to lose weight; drink lots (and lots and lots) of water with your diet, not including caffeinated drinks, take a high dose of vitamin C to maintain the collagen in your skin (you can't overdose, excess just washes out of your body) and an omega oil supplement to help with skin suppleness.
Palmer's cocoa butter skin firming lotion is also good, and quite cheap.
Also, finding out what your body fat percentage is would be a good idea, because most excess skin is actually leftover fat in the folds of skin, so if you get to about 15-20% body fat (the so-called healthy percentage for women) then you shouldn't have any loose skin at all.
Sorry if I sound like I am preaching, but I found the info helpful and I thought you might too. Best of luck with your weight loss.

Oh, I know, but when it's ALWAYS a nice face?

It stings in a flashback kind of way. About two years ago a friend of mine in Belfast said I had a nice face but I'd have a nicer body if I lost weight. I don't like the "but".

A 'nice face' isn't a backhanded compliment at all, it's a perfectly valid compliment in its own right.

Great blog, will enjoy reading it as I'm on a similar journey. Dont let TOTM play on your mind as your body will just do what your body will do. You now have the tools to be in control of your weight and by following the plan, that will happen regardless of how much fighting your body tries to do.

Good luck :-)

Ah, but you will have a bigger loss the second week - such is the way! Your body has to shed your glycogen come hell or high water this week, your ovaries can't make you retain that - so you should lose at least 4lbs if you're hanging on to water - the other fun thing is that your periods may get more evenly spaced and less horrific (hopefully)
